Many of us struggle with the concept of work/life balance.
Trying to find the perfect balance between work and personal life can be challenging, but in the long term, it is essential for our overall well-being.
One thing to consider is tilting instead of trying to achieve a perfect balance. This means prioritising certain aspects of your life at different times, depending on your current needs and circumstances.
For example, when I have a big business project deadline, I may need to tilt more towards work for a few days or weeks. I break up my projects into smaller, manageable tasks in Notion and then start chunking away at them.
However, once the deadline has passed, I tilt back towards my personal life.
As a mum, I now do a brain dump in Notion (OMG, I could rave on about how awesome Notion is) of all my to-do’s to get them out of my head so I am not trying to remember every little thing. I take a few minutes daily to do a brain dump of all my to-dos and prioritise them based on urgency and importance. Then, on my "life-admin" days or during my lunch break, I try to tick some of those items off my list.
Being a list girl, this makes me happy!
I am now starting to implement a daily/weekly/monthly review (both personally and professionally) like I did in the corporate world, as it’s nice to reflect on achievements, highlights and all the little steps I’ve made to hit my bigger goals.
Remember, finding balance is not a one-size-fits-all solution, so it's essential to listen to your own needs and adjust accordingly.
In the end, remember to take breaks, prioritise self-care, and make time for the things and people you love. By tilting instead of striving for a perfect balance, you can create a more sustainable and fulfilling lifestyle.
