As a lifelong member of the Defence community, ex-serving, Defence spouse and Defence mum,  I support the Australian community in rebuilding confidence, articulating their value, and moving forward with clarity.

I created Sorted by Kath in 2020 to provide calm, structured, done-for-you career support for Defence spouses and members, as well as job seekers worldwide.

My Story - Grounded in lived experience
& professional insight

I’ve lived Defence life from every angle - as a Defence daughter, an ex-serving member, a Defence spouse for 26 years. Our son has now proudly joined the RAAF, continuing our family's legacy.

 

Across decades of relocations, identity shifts, disrupted careers and rebuilding from scratch more times than I can count, I learned something powerful:

 

Clarity and confidence are the fundamental foundations of every career.

Sorted by Kath wasn’t built on theory.

 

It was built from lived experience.​

 

My career has spanned roles in Defence, the Australian Public Service (within Defence), and recruitment in the mining sector. These pathways shaped my ability to translate capability, civilianise military experience, and help people articulate their value - even when they can't see it themselves.

 

Today, I support Defence partners, serving members, veterans, return-to-work parents, students, job seekers, and career changers in finding direction, regaining confidence, and stepping forward with clarity.​

Supporting Defence partners through PEAP

As a Defence spouse myself, I know the impact that relocations, postings, career interruptions and uncertainty can have. I provide tailored support for Defence partners through the Partner Employment Assistance Program (PEAP), which offers up to $1,500 per financial year (resets the 1st July) to support employment, confidence, and career development.

  • Momentum Package - Foundation + APS prep, interviews, selection criteria
